Youth, forgetfulness do not excuse sexual assault

-

There are some things you just don’t forget.

I cannot imagine someone forgetting an incident such as the one that Brett Kavanaugh is allegedly accused of committing unless it was one of many in the scheme of things. You either did or you didn’t when it comes to an attempted rape or gang bang. Being drunk is no excuse for such actions. Being a teenager does not excuse the gravity of such behavior and it is not common or acceptable, in fact it is a crime no matter what the situation or age.

Forgetting is inexcusable and should not be believed. It certainly left a mark on the alleged victim, who was vetted by taking a lie detector test before the article was written and brought out to the public. A young girl, a teenager, has embedded in her brain, exactly what happened, for sure. Lesser happenings leave scars for life, even when there is forgiveness.

The right for a confirmation to become a judge on the highest court in our land should not be part of this equation and must be taken off the table. Brett Kavanaugh should have to take a lie detector test before he is interviewed just to set the record straight or find out otherwise. Right now you have the accuser having passed a test showing her words are true, as opposed to the accused and just his words of denial. It is not an equal playing field and can only be judged one way — unequivocally in her favor. Linda Gefen, Boca Raton
