SOUTHWEST RANCHES — Zach Bohannon threw for 296 yards with five touchdowns, three to Conner Hindsley, as American Heritage-Delray handled host Archbishop McCarthy 44-0 on Friday in a non-district game.

After a first-quarter 35-yard field goal by Lucas Matias, Bohannon and Hindsley then capped the Stallions’ (4-0) next three drives on scoring passes. The first came on a 5-yard strike and was followed up on the ensuing drive that concluded with a 10-yard scoring toss. Their final touchdown came on a 54-yard pass with Hindsley gaining most of the yardage after the catch. Hindsley finished with 171 receiving yards on nine catches and also had an interception.

The Stallions, ranked second in Class 3A by the Associated Press, tacked on after Bohannon connected with Fredrick Cage on a 32-yard scoring pass with 2:11 left to play in the first half. They sent the game to a running clock at the 4:18 mark of the third quarter as Bohannon threw his fifth touchdown to Winston Hill from 17 yards out. Bohannon completed 18 of 28 attempts with no interceptions.

Steve Barrett led all rushers with 73 yards and a touchdown for the Stallions. Conversely, the Heritage-Delray defense held the Mavericks (1-3) to just 54 yards in total offense. Atlantic 21, Park Vista 7: Atlantic senior quarterback Kalani Ilimaleota threw for three touchdowns and the Eagles erased a first-half deficit and defeated host Park Vista in a District 10-8A contest in Lake Worth.

After a 7-7 tie at halftime, the Eagles (4-0) controlled the second half and had a dominant defensive performance.

The Eagles gained the momentum on the first possession of the second half. Ilimaleota connected with Antoine Williams on fourth-and-13 for a first down to extend the drive. On fourth-and-3, Ilimaleota fired a 12-yard touchdown pass to Kamareon Williams to give the Eagles a 14-7 advantage with 8:05 left in the third quarter.

The Cobras (2-3) blocked a punt and recovered at the Eagles 8-yard line late in the third quarter, but failed to take advantage. Senior quarterback Tyler Thomas threw a pass on third down that was intercepted by Kael Williams, who had a 99-yard return for a score negated due to a block-inthe-back penalty.

The Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter on a short field after a punt return and Cobras personal foul. Ilimaleota connected with Antoine Williams for a 9-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 21-7 with 7:16 left in the fourth.

DeAndre McCray had an interception late in the fourth quarter for the Eagles to seal the victory.

“We have keep this momentum and stay disciplined and focused,” Atlantic coach T.J. Jackson said. “We are going in the right direction. We need to have the mindset to get better.”

The Cobras opened the scoring as Thomas tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Aydin Henningham with 11:26 left in the second quarter.

Henningham, an Atlantic transfer and highly touted Division I recruit, leads the Cobras in touchdowns scored.

The Eagles started Jacoby Dorch at quarterback, but Ilimaleota sparked the Eagles offense on his first drive as he fired a touchdown pass to Elani Cleckley to tie the score with 8:22 left in the second.

Atlantic, the Sun Sentinel’s top-ranked team in Palm Beach County, also has victories against Palm Beach Central, Dwyer, and Pahokee this season.

It was the first meeting between the two teams since Atlantic held off Park Vista 14-7 in a Region 3-8A semifinal last season.
