Quick slant: After four non-conference games and three wins in a row, the Hurricanes begin conference play against a North Carolina team that tested them last season in Chapel Hill. Both teams enter with quarterback questions and neither Miami coach Mark Richt nor Carolina coach Larry Fedora have wanted to reveal too much about which of their signal callers are set to log significant playing time.

About North Carolina (1-2): After two losses to start the season and a game against UCF cancelled because of Hurricane Irma, the Tar Heels picked up their first win of the season Saturday: a 38-35 victory over Pittsburgh. Junior quarterback Nathan Elliott is expected to start, but how much Chazz Surratt — now eligible to play after a suspension — plays remains unclear and Fedora hasn’t given many hints leading up to the game.

About Miami (3-1): After veteran starter Malik Rosier was under center for the first two series of Miami’s 31-17 win over FIU last week, Richt put the ball in the hands of redshirt freshman N’Kosi Perry and Perry delivered. Perry hit on his first 10 passes and finished the day 17 of 25 for 224 yards and three touchdowns. He and Rosier have alternated time with the No. 1 offense this week and Richt has declined to say which player will get the start.
