Rockies: David Dahl homered for the fourth straight game, and the Rockies opened a one-game NL West lead over the Dodgers with a 5-3 victory over the visiting Phillies. Trevor Story and Gerardo Parra added homers in the Rockies’ seventh straight win. Dahl also hit a run-scoring triple and finished the four-game sweep with eight hits and 11 RBIs. The second-place Dodgers were idle and will open a three-game series against the Cardinals on Friday . ... Rockies LHP Tyler Anderson (shoulder tightness) will throw a bullpen session Friday to determine whether he will be available Sunday against the Nationals as the starter or as a reliever.

Cubs: Major League Baseball extended SS Addison Russell’s administrative leave until Sunday, according to reports. Russell, 24, was placed on paid leave last week after his ex-wife, Melisa Reidy-Russell, posted a blog detailing abuse during their short marriage, including physical abuse. Reidy-Russell is cooperating with MLB’s investigation.

Yankees: Injured SS Didi Gregorius and OF Aaron Hicks both participated in a workout at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. Manager Aaron Boone said he expects Hicks (hamstring) to play Friday against the Red Sox, while Gregorius (wrist) may return before the end of the regular season.

Braves: Julio Teheran looked sharp in his last audition to become part of the Braves’ playoff rotation, pitching two-hit ball for six innings in a 4-1 loss to the Mets. The NL East champion Braves didn’t start first baseman Freddie Freeman and center fielder Ender Inciarte, and they were minus injured shortstop Dansby Swanson for the second straight game. Jason Vargas (7-9) tossed seven shutout innings in his best start of the season for the Mets. Teheran (9-9) allowed one run, struck out five and walked two, exiting with a 1-0 deficit. His final start came a week before the Braves are set to begin the postseason. He had won just one of his last 10 outings.
