How to secure ‘Hamilton’ tickets

- By Jake Cline SouthFlorida.com

Individual tickets to see “Hamilton” at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale will go on sale Oct. 23, the Broadway musical’s producer announced Monday. As to be expected given the show’s continued popularity and this being its first run in South Florida, securing a ticket will require a bit of effort.

Would-be “Hamilton”goers have until Oct. 15 to register with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program in order to qualify for tickets. After registering at VerifiedFan.Ticketmaster.com /HamiltonFll, randomly selected customers will receive an email on Oct. 22 letting them know that they have been approved to purchase tickets. The following day, they will receive two text messages, the first with the onsale time and a link to the ticketing site and the sec--

ond with an access code. The messages will be sent two to four hours before tickets go on sale, and customers may purchase up to four tickets for the Dec. 18-Jan. 20 run. Tickets cost from $78 to $498. Registration does not guarantee the ability to purchase tickets.

Forty $10 tickets will be sold through a lottery for each performance. Broadway in Fort Lauderdale, the company bringing “Hamilton” to the Broward Center, will release additional details on the lottery closer to opening night.

An unannounced number of tickets will be available at the Broward Center’s box office beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 23. The Broward Center is located at 201 SW Fifth Ave., in Fort Lauderdale. For more information, call 954-462-0222 or go to BrowardCenter.org.

“Hamilton” won 11 Tony Awards following its 2015 debut on Broadway, and made stars of creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and his fellow cast members (including Jonathan Groff and Leslie Odom Jr.). The show’s critical success and cultural significance can’t be overstated, and its multiracial telling of our nation’s difficult founding and its themes of unity, empathy and self-respect could not have arrived at a better time. “Hamilton” also will appear during the 2019-2020 Broadway seasons at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach.
