Blain leads Bucs to easy victory in playoff opener

Junior Ellie Blain fueled the victory for Benjamin with a team-high 12 kills and four serving aces.
The team captain has been a catalyst for the Buccaneers all season as she leads the squad in sets played (78) and kills (347).
“My girls are hungry to return to the state championship for the third year in the row,” said coach Alexandria Clarke. “Last night was a true example of them showing no mercy and taking it one match at a time.”
Benjamin got off to a hot start in the first set against the Lions with a 25-10 win.
The Buccaneers continued to control Sagemont by holding them to only four points in the second and third set.
Blain and fellow junior Heather Sley led the defensive unit with a combined 15 digs, while senior Shiyanna McLeod contributed with three blocks.
