A startling new video shows the actions of a former pornography actor who got into a shootout with police in May inside the Trump National Doral Miami resort.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office released the security camera video on Wednesday as part of the case involving Johnathan Oddi, according to the Miami Herald. Oddi, 42, of Doral, ended up getting shot in the leg during the incident that happened about 1:30 a.m on May 18.

"What you see in this surveillance video is a man in the throws of a mental breakdown," Oddi’s attorney, Christopher DeCoste, said Thursday.

“A breakdown further evidenced in bodycam footage later at the hospital. It can also be seen with a quick look into his eyes in his booking photograph. A defendant can be found not guilty by reason of insanity. This evidence could support such a finding. This end would not result in outright release, but rather intensive and clearly necessary treatment,” DeCoste said.

The edited, silent video shows Oddi scaring away employees, firing shots at the ceiling, damaging artwork and a chandelier, shouting, and draping an American flag over a reception desk in the lobby before getting into a gun battle with arriving officers.

At one point he is seen placing a black handgun on the counter and raising both hands as if to surrender but then he ducks down, grabs the gun, and starts firing at police outside before running out of the lobby.

Another security camera shows

Oddi slipping and falling as he runs across a marble floor in his stocking feet. A police officer, with his gun drawn, follows close behind. A third camera shows Oddi climbing stairs and limping across a carpeted area while knocking over furniture in the dark.

Using a flashlight, the armed officer arrives and appears to order Oddi to the floor. Oddi lies face down with his hands behind his back and the officer handcuffs him, the video showed.

Oddi was taken to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to his leg and for a psychological evaluation, police said at the time.

He was transferred to a jail cell days later where he awaits trial on charges that include attempted murder of police officers and armed burglary, records show.

“Mr. Oddi is coming to realize exactly what happened and is extremely remorseful,” said DeCoste. “To the officer who broke a wrist during the arrest, to those scared and to anyone else impacted, he’s extremely sorry.”

Miami-Dade police had released body-camera video days after the incident to show part of what happened from the officers’ points of view.

Oddi described himself on social media as a dancer and fitness instructor who worked in real estate and for a company that sold precious stones.
