Quick slant: The Hurricanes are making their first trip to Chestnut Hill since a 41-32 win over Boston College in 2012. Miami leads the all-time series 24-5, but the Eagles have won two of the last three meetings, including a 28-14 win in 2007 and a 24-17 win in 2011.

About Miami (5-2, 2-1): The Hurricanes, who had an open date last week, are coming off a 16-13 upset loss at Virginia on Oct. 13. That night, Miami’s offense struggled to move the ball early, prompting Hurricanes coach Mark Richt to make his second in-game quarterback change this season, inserting Malik Rosier during the second quarter. He finished 12-of-23 for 170 yards. He also rushed for a touchdown. About Boston College (5-2,

2-1): Like the Hurricanes, the Eagles are coming off an open date. They have won two of their last three, including a 38-20 win over Louisville before their bye. Boston College enters the game with one of the more potent rushing attacks in the ACC, averaging 226.9 yards per game, and it will be further boosted by the return of Dillon.

THREE THINGS TO WATCH

1. Miami’s offense outgained Virginia, but couldn’t put the ball in the end zone. The Hurricanes will need a strong showing from their offensive line and Rosier to try and not just move the ball against Boston College, but score on an Eagles defense that allows opponents an average of 387 yards per game. 2. The Hurricanes have the top defense in the ACC, but they will face a significant challenge against Dillon, a big, burly back known for his ability to shed defenders. Miami can’t afford to miss when they try to tackle him because at some point, Dillon will make the Hurricanes pay. 3. In their games against Florida State and Virginia, the Hurricanes fell behind early by double digits. Miami can’t afford to do that again Friday in what is expected to be an emotionally charged environment. Miami hasn’t won a road game against a Power 5 team since last October in North Carolina.

?? MONICA HERNDON/TNS ?? After losing at Virginia earlier this month, the Hurricanes are looking to bounce back Friday night when they travel to face Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
