Park Vista decides on DellaRocca as coach
Park Vista named former Dwyer coach Joe DellaRocca as its new softball coach on Monday, athletic director Pam Romero told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
“Park Vista is very excited to bring coach DellaRocca on board,” Romero said. “His experience, knowledge of the game, ability to help prepare athletes for the next level and commitment to the process will be a great fit for our program.”
DellaRocca replaces Donna Burnett, who spent four years with the program and was the 2014 Sun Sentinel softball coach of the year. She led the Cobras to a pair of regional finals appearances in 2014 and 2015, but Park Vista fell to Jupiter in the first round of the playoffs this year.
DellaRocca coached Dwyer from 2008-11, leading the Panthers to a pair of state semifinal appearances. DellaRocca also founded and coaches the CrossFire softball travel team. He had a 93-30 record with Dwyer, according to his travel team’s website.
