The three masked boys who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint in Boynton Beach last week confessed to the crime after they were arrested over the weekend, police said Tuesday.

Two of the boys were 15 and one was 16. They were from Palm Springs and West Palm Beach, said Stephanie Slater, spokeswoman for the Boynton Beach Police Department. Because they are juveniles, the South Florida Sun Sentinel is not identifying the teens by name.

They got away with at least $100 in cash and a box of Backwood cigars valued at $42, according to an arrest report. The armed robbery happened at 3 a.m. Friday at a 7-Eleven located at 101 West Woolbright Road, police said.

The masked robbers arrived in a gold Cadillac. One held the door open while the other two headed for the register, the report said.

One of the boys, put a gun to the head of a clerk who was on a lunch break in a back office and demanded that he “give me money.” But that clerk had nothing to give them, so the robbers turned their attention to the clerk at the register and emptied out two cash drawers before running away, according to the report.

Police caught up with one of the boys Friday afternoon and arrested him. His two accessories turned themselves in on Sunday after learning their buddy had been caught, police said.

“All three confessed to the armed robbery to the convenience store,” Slater said.

They were taken to juvenile hall in Palm Beach County.
