The Wynwood neighborhood is welcoming a new southern Italian restaurant with an emphasis on seafood.

“Florida, as well as southern Italy, is a land in which citrus, tomatoes, fish and seafood strive,” says Italian native Luca Lomonaco, the co-owner and sommelier. “We want to prepare a light, refreshing and simple cuisine where the ingredients are the star.”

He cites fried calamari ($10), beef tartare ($17) and linguine puttanesca ($17) as examples of classic dishes and organic carrots with charred cauliflower and crispy purple potato ($13) and potato gnocchi with Maine lobster and chanterelle mushrooms ($28) as modern ones.

“It’s a combination between traditional recipes and modern but leaning more toward the classics,” Lomonaco says. “The presentation is contemporary, and everything is prepared with attention to detail and love.”

His favorites are warm poached seafood salad ($15), house-made tagliolini with burrata sauce and local red shrimp ($20) and grilled lamb chops with Greek yogurt and sumac ($37).

Desserts ($8) include Caprese chocolate almond cake and panna cotta crafted with raspberry cream. Dinner is served nightly, except Sundays, amid cream walls, polished cement floors, wooden panels, gold accents, a landscaped patio and a wine cellar that can showcase 800 bottles.

“We have a big emphasis on wines that are coming from southern Italy and that are food friendly — whites from the Mediterranean and reds that can pair with seafood,” Lomonaco says.
