B Ocean Resort’s poolside café on the beach has revamped its comfort Continental menus with lighter options.

“The new menu has a perfect balance of traditional comfort and healthconscious,” says David Morales, the hotel’s executive chef. “Healthy food has become an unstoppable trend. Customers demand healthier and organic products and ingredients.”

One example is the quinoa tabbouleh with lemon-oil dressing ($13). “This dish has [high protein content] without a [high calorie count]. It is gluten-free, and the dressing is very light, making this dish rich in flavor,” he says. “The burrata Caprese contains only 335 calories [$15]. Burrata is considered a low-carb cheese, and the freshness of the tomato leaves a nice balance.”

Lighter selections extend to the new cocktails, such as Keel-er Cold Brew with Keel vodka and coconut cream and The Botanical with Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit and Rose vodka (both $14).

“Using these brands of spirits that are no carbs, no sugar and 100 percent no GMOs, plus natural fresh juices and ingredients, make the cocktails more guilt-free than high-carb spirits like rum or bourbon,” Morales says.

Feeling more indulgent? A selection of pizzas ($12-$13) has debuted, such as wild mushroom and rosemary.

Kitchen hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily; bar hours extend to 9 p.m. on weekends. Orange umbrellas shade tables while palm trees rustle in the ocean breeze.
