Texas sophomore QB Sam Ehlinger was a full participant in practice Wednesday and is expected to start Friday’s game against Kansas. Ehlinger, who has started all 11 games, left the team’s 24-10 victory over Iowa State on Saturday after taking a hard hit to his right shoulder late in the second quarter. He didn’t return to the game, and MRI results Sunday revealed that Ehlinger had aggravated his AC joint, which he first injured Oct. 13 against Baylor. The 14thranked Longhorns can clinch a berth in the Big 12 championship game with a win over Kansas . ... Junior FB Cole Fagan rushed for 260 yards, the third-most in Air Force history and just 15 yards shy of the school record, and senior LB Kyle Floyd thwarted a late drive with an INT to help the Falcons hold off visiting Colorado State 2719. The Falcons improved to 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the Mountain West, while the Rams fell to 3-9, 2-6. Junior WR Preston Williams had 12 catches for 248 yards and three TDs in the loss.

GOLF: Aaron Rai of England, Jason Scrivener of Australia and Yusaku Miyazato of Japan each shot an opening-round 5under 65 to take a share of the lead after the first round of the Hong Kong Open. The trio were one stroke clear of three others at the European Tour’s season-opening event. Masters champ Patrick Reed made four bogeys and a double bogey en route to a 75 . ... Ian Poulter and Tyrrell Hatton birdied six holes on the back nine to give England a share of the lead with South Korea (Byeong Hun An, Si Woo Kim) and Australia (Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman) after the opening fourballs at the World Cup of Golf in Melbourne, Australia. SOCCER: Liverpool and winger Sadio Mane agreed to terms on a new contract that runs until 2023, ESPN reported. The English Premier League club expects Mane to sign the contract before the end of the year. Mane, 26, of Senegal, has 40 goals in 89 appearances for Liverpool since his arrival from Southampton in the summer of 2016 . ... The IFAB, soccer’s rulemaking panel, proposed several changes it wants approved at a March 2 meeting so they can take effect June 1. The most significant proposed change would allow goalkeepers to need “only one foot on the goal line when a penalty is taken” so they can begin moving forward earlier. The current rule states that goalkeepers “must remain on the goal line until the ball has been kicked.” Other proposed changes: Ending trials with penalty shootouts to return to teams alternating kicks, cutting time wasting by forcing substituted players to leave the field at the nearest spot and writing a more precise wording for non-deliberate handball offenses. .
