Teams to watch

- Adam Lichtenstein

Benjamin: The Buccaneers are looking to get past the regional finals this season. Led by Ben Lubarsky and football star Kaiir Elam, Benjamin is looking to right the ship after a pair of big early losses to Westminster and Forest Hill.

Forest Hill:

The Falcons had their first winning season in more than a decade last year, and third-year coach Tony Watson is hoping to make it two in a row. Forest Hill, led early in the year by Torrin Andrews, D’ante Daniels and Brayden Washington, is off to a strong start but faces tough district opponents.

Oxbridge Academy:

Oxbridge saw last season come to an end with a five-point loss to Tampa Catholic but returns a strong senior core this year. Led by Fab Five picks A.J. Cajuste and Dante Wilcox, the ThunderWolves started the season with five straight wins.

St. Andrew’s:

The Scots missed out on the postseason last year and are aiming for a return. St. Andrew’s has a young team, with only three seniors, but has some of the top underclassmen in Palm Beach County. Next Five picks Yussif Basa-ama and Joshua Minott are poised for great seasons.

Wellington:

The Wolverines went further than any Palm Beach County team in the playoffs last year, earning a state finals appearance. Fab Five pick Linton Brown, who transferred away from Wellington then back, leads the way for the Wolverines this year.
