Kentucky’s Green announces transfer

-

Sophomore guard Quade Green is leaving Kentucky.

Green notified coach John Calipari of his decision Wednesday and will have the ability to transfer to any school he wants without restrictions.

He thanked the school and coaching staff in a statement.

“I have loved my time at Kentucky and love Coach Cal and the staff,” Green said in a statement. “This was a difficult decision and one I didn’t take lightly. However, after talking with my family and the coaching staff, I just felt like it was best that I explore other opportunities for my athletic and academic future. I have enjoyed my time at Kentucky and I’ll never forget the Big Blue Nation for its love and its support.”

Calipari said in a statement that Green had his “full support.”

Green, a McDonald’s All American out of Philadelphia, was one of the 19thranked Wildcats’ better 3point shooters in a season characterized by inconsistent 3-point shooting. He was third on the team with 11 3-pointers and 42.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Green began the 2017-18 season as Kentucky’s starting point guard before moving to shooting guard. This season, Green averaged 8.0 points per game and had seen his minutes and production diminish in recent games. He played only 10 minutes against Seton Hall on Saturday and a careerlow eight a week earlier against UNC Greensboro.

SDSU player sued over video:

Jalen McDaniels, a sophomore forward on San Diego State’s basketball team, has been sued in a Washington civil court for allegedly filming a sexual act with a female student in 2016 while they were seniors at Federal Way High School outside Tacoma, Wash., and then sharing it with friends through social media.

Joan Mell, the attorney who filed the civil suit in King County Superior Court, said she expects to file another invasion of privacy suit against McDaniels and the school district involving a similar incident with a different woman.
