The fatal shooting of a man at a Fort Lauderdale gas station on Christmas night took just seven seconds, according to video released Thursday by police.

The killing of Emmanuel Watts happened at the Westar Mart, at 701 W. Broward Blvd., just five blocks east of Fort Lauderdale police headquarters.

A man driving a black Dodge Dart pulled up to a gas station pump around 5:50 p.m., police say. His passenger, a man, got out of the car, looked inside the store and walked away, the video showed.

After Watts drove a small, lightcolored car and parked at the pump behind the Dodge, both drivers got out.

The driver of the Dodge had a pistol in his right hand and aimed it toward Watts, firing multiple times as he chased Watts into the store.

The video shows pedestrians and gas station customers running from the gunfire.

Watts entered the store and turned right, falling to the floor.

The gunman stood over Watts for a few moments and then got back inside the Dodge. He appeared to drive away without his passenger.

Paramedics took Watts, 44, who lived in Fort Lauderdale, to Broward Health Medical Center where he died.

Police say they do not have additional information about the suspect and his passenger, including whether the gunman and Watts may have known each other.

The driver being sought in the ambush wore dark clothing: A knitted cap, hooded jacket and pants, white sneakers and a large watch on his left wrist.

His passenger wore a dark colored jacket, long shorts and white sneakers with black details.

Police ask anyone with information about the killing to call Detective Jason Wood, at 954-828-5344. Broward County Crime Stoppers accepts anonymous tips, and will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
