Democrats and Republicans need to work together
I’d like to respond to the author of the letter, the Democratic Platform is Destroying This Country. For a Christian, you sound like you are filled with rage and hate. I thought that being a Christian, like being a Jew, meant that you treat others with love and respect, are welcoming of strangers, believe in dignity for all human beings, believe in equality under the law, and are a lover of the truth; not one who spews hate and outrage because of beliefs and values that are different than yours? How can anything in our country be resolved if Republicans and Democrats won’t work together?
You also stated that the Democratic stance on global warming is “the dumbest thing on Earth”. I believe that climate change needs to be dealt with, it’s not a hoax and just because you don’t believe in it, doesn’t make it not true. You can say you don’t believe in gravity, but if you step off a cliff you’ll find out you’re wrong. We need to be stewards of this Earth and we need to take care of it. I believe that most people who say they don’t believe in climate change really just don’t believe in the solutions that have been offered to combat it.
I hope the New Year will be one of love and tolerance, and Republicans and Democrats can find a way to work together on issues that are important to the citizens of this country – issues that include affordable health care, rebuilding our infrastructure, addressing climate change, tax reform, gun control, border security, and immigration.
