Holiday schedule for New Year’s Day 2019
Here’s some of what will be open and closed in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2019.
South Florida:
Most banks will be closed. Post offices will be closed; there will be no regular mail delivery. Stock markets: Dec. 31 — NYSE open; Nasdaq open; Bond Market close 2 p.m.; New Year’s Day: NYSE, Nasdaq, Bond Markets closed.
Most federal, state, county court, governmental and municipal offices will be closed.

Broward County
Government/Schools
Public schools, colleges and universities will be closed New Year’s Day.
The Circuit and County Courts and the Administrative Office of the Courts will be closed New Year’s Day.
Governmental offices will be closed New Year’s Day.
Services
Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2019. In the event of animal attack or bite, call 911. For lost or found cats or dogs, call 954-359-1313, ext. 9273.
The Broward County Landfill at 7101 SW 205th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, will be closed New Year’s Day.
There will be no interruption of scheduled garbage collections on New Year’s Day, Jan 1 in the county. Schedules in each city may vary; contact your city to find out the schedule.
Entertainment

Broward County regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers and natural areas will be open with the exception of Deerfield Island Park, which will be closed per normal operating.
