Chaminade teammates turn into foes at All-America Game
ORLANDO — Te’cory Couch and John Dunmore spent the last year as teammates at ChaminadeMadonna and won a state championship together.
On Thursday, they lined up as opponents at the Under Armour All-America Game.
Couch, a Miami Hurricanes signee, got an early tackle in on Dunmore, a Penn State signee.
The pair of Chaminade stars were two of the nine Broward and Palm Beach county players who took the field in the Under Armour All-America Game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Thursday night.
Seven additional local players got on the field at Camping World Stadium: Benjamin’s Kaiir Elam, Deerfield Beach’s Ge’mon Eaford, Palm Beach Central’s Akeem Dent and St. Thomas Aquinas’ Jordan Battle, Daniel Carter, Jaden Davis and Anthony Solomon.
Seven of the nine local players have already signed with their college teams. Only Elam remains uncommitted, while Dent is committed but unsigned; he has been committed to Florida State since July 2017.
The local players did not make much of an impact on the game’s final score — Team Ballaholics, coached by Deion Sanders and featuring Couch, Dent, Elam and Eaford, won 28-27 over Team Flash.
Dunmore had a pair of catches for 12 yards, and Carter had two carries for 5 yards. On defense, Battle, Couch, Dent, Elam, Eaford and Solomon all had one tackle each. Davis had a pass breakup.
