Costco coming to Coral Springs

Coral Springs is about to experience the mega-discount world of Costco.

Costco Wholesale will open a new membership warehouse in Coral Springs at 8 a.m. Feb. 7, according to a news release by the Issaquah, Wash. based company.

The 156,000-square-foot warehouse is at 4621 Coral Ridge Drive, at the northeast corner of Wiles Road and Coral Ridge Drive.

Residents “have been asking us to open here for a long time,” said Warehouse Manager Ed Flaherty, saying that previously the closest Costco to Coral Springs residents was 11 miles away in Pompano Beach or 20 miles away in Boca Raton.

The Costco location will feature a gas station; bakery; meat, produce and deli department­s; optical department with an independen­t doctor of optometry; pharmacy; tire center; hearing aid center; and food court.

Costco lists more than 30 jobs available including baker, cake decorator, forklift driver, meat cutter, inventory auditor, pharmacy manager, payroll clerk, hearing aid specialist, tire installer and stocker on its careers site, costco.com/job-opportunit­ies.html. Those interested can apply online.

Membership­s to Costco range from $60 to $120 a year, according to Costco’s site.

The Coral Springs Costco will be the eighth Costco warehouse in South Florida and the 27th Costco warehouse in the state. Costco has 534 stores in the U.S., and 769 worldwide.

Costco said it has 95 million cardholder­s throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, Wales, Spain, France, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Australia and Iceland.
