The Who to play BB&T Center
The band’s symphony-aided Moving On! tour coming in September.
Rock legends the Who, led by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, will bring their symphony-aided Moving On! tour to the BB&T Center in Sunrise on Sept. 20.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-745-3000. A fan club presale will run 10 a.m. Wednesday through 10 p.m. Thursday. For information visit TheWho.com/membership.
Every pair of tickets purchased online includes a redeemable code for a CD copy of the Who’s forthcoming studio album (release date TBD), the band’s first album of new music in 13 years. In addition, $1 from each ticket sold for the tour will benefit Teen Cancer America (TeenCancerAmerica.org).

Produced by Live Nation, the Who’s 23-stop North American tour opens May 7 in Grand Rapids, Mich., with one other Florida concert, Sept. 22 at the Amalie Center in Tampa.
The tour features singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend joined by frequent collaborators in guitarist/ backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button and drummer Zak Starkey — along with a symphony orchestra. Daltrey says do not be afraid.
“Just because it's the Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full-throttle Who with horns and bells on,” he said in a statement.
Townshend chimed in: “Roger christened this tour Moving On! I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose.”
