You’re going out for drinks this weekend anyway, so why not do it for a purpose beyond yourself? Here are eight places to gather for drinks this weekend while helping to raise money for good causes.

Christmas tidings: Friday brings a Christmas in July edition of the Dogs, Beaches and Brews happy hour at the World Famous Parrot Lounge, 911 Sunrise Lane, Fort Lauderdale, a benefit for Everglades Angels Dog Rescue. Beginning at 5 p.m., there will be food and drink specials, and dogs available for adoption. A $5 donation to the rescue gets you a free drink, and from 7 to 10 p.m. you can get photos with Summer Santa. Go to facebook.com/Everglades Angels Dog Rescue. Pooches on the Patio: The fourth annual fundraiser takes place 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at Hooters of Boca Raton, 2240 NW 19th St., with live music, raffles and adoptable dogs on site. Tickets cost $10 and come with one domestic draft beer and appetizers, with all proceeds going to the Tri County Animal Rescue’s new animal hospital. Equal time for cats: If you are a cat person, there is Wine & Snacks With Cats at Uncommon Gallery, 2709 E. Commercial Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, a benefit for Lady Luck Animal Rescue in Lighthouse Point. All of the $15 entry fee will go to the rescue. Big dogs: This weekend’s edition of Salty Saturdays in the Reef Room at Saltwater Brewery, 1701 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, will include a dog adoption and fundraisin­g event with Big Dog Ranch Rescue from 2 to 6 p.m. The kid-friendly and dog-friendly Salty Saturday begins at noon. Bigger dogs: At 1 p.m. Saturday, Broski Ciderworks, 1465 SW Sixth Court, Pompano Beach, will raise money for Gentle Giants Great Dane Rescue. Roar & Pour: The monthly summer fundraiser for the Palm Beach Zoo offers live music, food and drink and nighttime touring of the zoo’s many exhibits. This edition of Roar & Pour, running 4:30-9 p.m. Saturday, includes a tap takeover by Copperpoin­t Brewing Co. and music from the Luke Bryan tribute band Play It Again. The Tiki Bar opens at 5 p.m. and the music is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Admission: $16.95, $11.95 ages 3-12. Blankets and low-rise chairs are fine to bring. Go to palmbeachz­oo.org. Cocktails for Humanity: This monthly feature of the FAT Village Art Walk in downtown Fort Lauderdale takes place 6-11 p.m. Saturday at General Provision, 525 NW First Ave. In this weekend’s edition, volunteer bartenders (some with faces you may recognize) will serve beer, wine and cocktails to benefit the Broward Public Library Foundation.
