NFL rookie Bosa buys a condo in his hometown of Fort Lauderdale

- By David Lyons

Drafted by the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, rookie Nick Bosa apparently left his heart in his hometown of Fort Lauderdale as he just bought a new luxury condo near the beach.

Bosa, 21, started summer training camp last week after being selected as the second overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft.

The defensive lineman, who played four years at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and three years at Ohio State, bought a $1.24 million unit at 30 Thirty North Ocean. It’s part of a 24-unit complex that is nearing completion by developer Cavache Properties.

“I used to live in Lauderdale beach and have a lot of good memories as a kid,” Bosa said in a statement.

His mother, Cheryl, who heads the sports and entertainment division of Engel & Völkers in Fort Lauderdale, represented her son in the purchase, the statement said.

Bosa’s father, John, an NFL retiree, and older brother Joey, a defensive end for the Los Angeles Chargers, also own homes in South Florida.

Nick Bosa’s condo features a private elevator that opens into the unit’s 2,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor living areas. The complex offers ocean views, large open terraces with summer kitchens, a clubhouse and beach club membership.

Over the weekend, Bosa got through his first day of practice injury free after suffering a bilateral core muscle tear last year that ended his final season at Ohio State, according to The Associated Press.

He’s been cleared for training camp by the 49ers, which assigned him to play mostly left end with the second string and third downs with the starters.
