AROUND THE HORN

Marlins, Dodgers: The Marlins turned the tables on the Dodgers in their rout-filled season series, winning 13-7 in Miami despite giving up four HRs, including Cody Bellinger’s 40th. The Dodgers increased their HR total this week at pitcher-friendly Marlins Park to 14, a franchise record for a threegame series. Max Muncy hit his 29th, Corey Seager his 12th and Kyle Garlick his third. Bellinger, who began the day tied with Christian Yelich and Mike Trout for the major league lead, reached the 40 mark for the first time with a three-run shot into the upper deck in the seventh to cut the deficit to 13-7. The Dodgers had won the previous five games against the Marlins this year by a combined score of 45-9, including a margin of 33-2 in the last three games. Brian Anderson, Starlin Castro, Jorge Alfaro and Lewis Brinson each had three RBIs for the Marlins. The last time Marlins had four players with three or more RBIs was in 2006. Caleb Smith (8-6) needed 106 pitches to get through five innings but allowed only one hit and one run.

Yankees: Former MVP Giancarlo Stanton is hitting indoors and throwing as he rehabs from a sprained right knee that’s been slow to heal since he got hurt June 25. Yankees GM Brian Cashman originally targeted August but now says the AL East leaders hope to get Stanton back sometime in September. Stanton strained his left biceps March 31 in his third game of the season, strained a shoulder and calf during his rehabilitation and returned June 18. He quickly went down again and is batting .290 with one HR and seven RBIs in nine games this year.

Diamondbacks: LHP Robbie Ray was placed on the 10-day IL because of lower back spasms. Ray was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Rockies while warming up before the start of the third inning. He gave up one run and one hit, and the Diamondbacks went on to suffer a 7-6 loss.

Twins: RHP Michael Pineda was activated off the 10-day IL and started Thursday night against the Rangers. Pineda had been on the IL since Aug. 3 with a right triceps strain. He’s 7-5 with a 4.15 ERA and has made 21 starts.

Athletics: RHP Matt Harvey agreed to a minor league deal with the A’s on Wednesday night, according to reports. Harvey, 30, was designated for assignment last month by the Angels, with whom he signed a one-year, $11 million deal before the season. Harvey, 30, an All-Star in 2013, was 3-5 with a 7.09 ERA in 12 starts for the Angels.

Astros: RHP Gerrit Cole said Wednesday that his sore right hamstring is “not super serious.” Cole was a late scratch Tuesday in the second game of a doubleheader against the White Sox. “We got some good news,” Cole said. “So we’ll just take it day by day right now and kind of see how it responds to some treatment and some rest.” Cole didn’t know if he’d miss his next scheduled start Monday. Cole, 14-5 with a 2.87 ERA, has won a career-best 10 straight games.
