AROUND THE HORN
■ Indians: Two-time Cy Young winner Corey Kluber was removed from a minor league start after one inning with abdominal tightness. The team said Kluber, who hasn’t pitched in the majors since breaking his arm during a start May 1, was taken out of Sunday’s game for Triple-A Columbus in Charlotte, N.C., for precautionary reasons. Kluber, 33, was making his third start as he attempts to return from the injury. He’s scheduled to spend Monday in Cleveland — an off day for the Indians — before re-joining the club in New York. ... Mike Clevinger struck out 10 in five shutout innings, Mike Freeman had three extra-base hits and the Indians beat the Yankees 8-4 in New York for a fourgame split between AL pennant contenders. Freeman hit a three-run HR and a pair of doubles, Oscar Mercado homered and drove in three runs and Francisco Lindor also connected for the Indians. Clevinger (8-2), who won his seventh straight decision, limited the Yankees to three hits and walked two.
■ Braves: Rafael Ortega hit his first career grand slam in the sixth to lift the Braves to a 5-3 win over the Dodgers in Atlanta. Braves manager Brian Snitker pulled OF Ronald Acuna Jr. out of the game before the fifth because he didn’t run out a drive off the right field wall in the third. The ball bounced off the wall for a long single instead of an easy double.
■ Phillies: OF Bryce Harper left the Phillies’ 3-2 loss to the Padres in Philadelphia after the fifth inning because of dehydration. Manager Gabe Kapler said Harper had blurred vision and received an IV for hydration. The temperature was 90 degrees when Harper was lifted. After the game, Harper said he was feeling better.
■ Nationals: Juan Soto and Brian Dozier each hit a pair of HRs and the Nationals matched a team record with eight in a 16-8 rout of the Brewers in Washington. ... Nationals closer Sean Doolittle was placed on the 10-day IL with right knee tendinitis less than 24 hours after blowing a three-run lead in the ninth inning of Saturday night’s 15-14 loss in 14 innings.
■ Astros: Zack Greinke threw seven smooth innings for his 200th career win, pitching the first-place Astros past the A’s 4-1 in Oakland, Calif., to avoid a four-game sweep. Alex Bregman had a go-ahead, three-run HR among his four hits to back Greinke, who won his third straight start since joining the Astros from the Diamondbacks at the July 31 trade deadline. Greinke (13-4) allowed four hits and one run with three walks and six strikeouts. The 35-year-old became the 115th pitcher in MLB history to reach 200 career wins, and the second in the Astros rotation along with Justin Verlander.
■ Mariners: Rookie Yusei Kikuchi pitched his first career MLB shutout, throwing a two-hitter to help the Mariners beat the Blue Jays 7-0 in Toronto. Kikuchi (5-8) struck out eight, walked one and retired the final 14 batters. The 28-year-old was a star in Japan before signing with the Mariners in the offseason. Tom Murphy hit a two-run HR in the win.
