Report: Colts meet with QB Osweiler

Less than a week after Andrew Luck’s abrupt retirement, the Colts apparently brought in another quarterback from the 2012 draft class for a visit.

Osweiler, 29, met with the Colts on Tuesday, ESPN reported. The club is looking for a veteran behind Jacoby Brissett, who is expected to be the new starter. Indianapolis currently has Phillip Walker and Chad Kelly backing up Brissett.

Walker has never appeared in a regular-season game and Kelly faces a two-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Osweiler was picked by the Broncos in the second round in 2012, and has played with the Texans and Dolphins. Luck, who retired last Saturday, was taken first overall in 2012.

Hunt must stay away:

Browns RB Kareem Hunt will not be allowed at the team’s facility while serving an eight-game suspension for off-field incidents, including a physical altercation in which he punched and kicked a woman.

Hunt’s ban at the Browns’ facility starts at 4 p.m. Saturday when teams must submit their 53-man rosters. Hunt was suspended by the league in March.

Hunt, 24, was a third-round pick of the Chiefs in 2017 and led the league with 1,327 rushing yards while scoring eight TDs as a rookie. He was released by the club last November after video of the incident involving a woman was released by TMZ.

The Browns signed Hunt in February.

Setback for McKinnon:

49ers RB Jerick McKinnon has had another setback while he tries to come back from a knee injury.

General manager John Lynch told a San Francisco radio station that McKinnon’s return to practice on Tuesday was “not encouraging.”

McKinnon, 27, signed a fouryear, $30 million free-agent deal with the 49ers in March 2018, but tore an ACL one week before the start of the regular season.

The Georgia Southern product played the previous four seasons with the Vikings.

Butt having more surgery:

Broncos TE Jake Butt will have arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome left knee but may still miss the 2019 season.

Butt, 24, appeared in three games with the Broncos in 2018 before tearing his left ACL in practice.

He tore his right ACL as a sophomore with Michigan and again as a senior in 2017, which resulted him missing his rookie season with the Broncos.

Hauschka staying:

The Bills signed K Stephen Hauschka to a two-year contract extension through the 2021 season.

Hauschka, 34 and heading into his 12th season, is seventh on the NFL’s all-time list with 86.4 percent of field goals made.
