BELLE GLADE — Palm Beach Lakes quarterback Tre’Von Taylor made himself at home in the Muck.

Taylor went 9 for11for170 yards and four touchdowns as the Rams beat Glades Central, 44-13, in Belle Glade on Monday night.

“I just went back and studied the team, found out what they run and just did my job,” Taylor said. “And I couldn’t do it without my teammates.”

Glades Central junior Desmond Washington took the opening kickoff about 85 yards for a touchdown, but the Raiders couldn’t keep that momentum going.

Glades Central struggled in the running game and could not get anything going in the pass game, notching only 15 yards of total offense in the first half.

Palm Beach Lakes defensive back Anthony Bradley picked off a pair of first-half passes, and one of those interceptions led to the Rams’ first touchdown.

Senior running back Micah Butler gave Lakes the lead with a 17-yard run, putting the Rams ahead, 10-7. Lakes never looked back, and Taylor got his first touchdown of the night with a 13-yard touchdown to Jalen Jones two possessions later.

The Raiders had a shot to get back into the game in the third quarter. Glade Central recovered a fumble at its own 10-yard line, but they could not move the ball on offense. A short punt gave the Rams the ball at the Raiders’ 30, and Taylor hit Markell Lee for a 30-yard touchdown pass to give Lakes a 17-point lead.

Taylor’s third touchdown, a 61-yard toss to senior Robert Davis, sealed the game for the Rams in the third quarter. He added his fourth with a 15-yard toss to Christopher Johnson early in the fourth quarter.

“Tre’Von — he came over and he changed our team,” Palm Beach Lakes coach Al Shipman said. “He changed the dynamic of our team and made us dangerous. We’re not just a running football team. We’re a two-headed monster.”

Palm Beach Lakes running back Antonio Outler didn’t score in the game, but he rushed for 178 yards.
