Jones, Wilson are ruled out against Patriots

- By Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones, who has started 110 games since 2010, was held out of his third consecutive practice Friday because of a right ankle injury and won’t play against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

The Dolphins also will be without receiver Albert Wilson, who is sidelined with hip and calf injuries. He also didn’t practice all week.

Wilson, who caught two of the four passes thrown his way for 13 yards against the Ravens, is one of the main playmakers Miami’s coaches hoped to run their offense through this season. Jakeem Grant and Preston Williams are expected to inherit the plays designed for Wilson. Allen Hurns’ workload also is likely to increase.

Jones only played in 32 of Miami’s 72 defensive snaps in Sunday’s 59-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He had five tackles as the team’s starting strong safety.

Backup safety Walt Aikens, Miami’s special teams captain, and newcomer Steven Parker are viewed as the front-runners to replace Jones as the safety paired with Bobby McCain.

McCain is also battling a shoulder injury, which has limited his practice participation this week, but he’s listed as questionable.

Also listed as questionable is center Daniel Kilgore, who apparently suffered a shoulder injury this week, and defensive end Charles Harris, who has been battling a wrist injury that’s lingered since the spring. Neither Kilgore or Harris’ participation was limited during Friday’s walk through.

Linebacker Trent Harris, who has been rehabbing a foot injury the past two weeks, practiced on limited basis for the first time this week and is also listed as questionable.
