Sun Sentinel Palm Beach Edition
Have a drink, rescue a dog
The idea that you are going to go to a brewery and find the love of your life is remote, though your chances may be better when the object of your affection has four legs. There’s always a chance that you’ll make a special connection at one of these dog-friendly dog-adoption events, but at the very least you’ll have the opportunity to support rescue volunteers with a few dollars.
■ The hugely popular Bark Back benefit for the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League takes place 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, this year expanded into a block party at Mathews Brewing Co. in Lake Worth. The event includes an impressive lineup of nonstop live music (led by Spred the Dub, the Copper Tones and Surfer Blood), food trucks (Rolling Chefs, Di Big Jerk, Scarlett’s Smoked BBQ Pit and Carnahan Concessions) and an irresistible collection of adoptable animals. Bark Back V tickets cost $10. Leashed pets and kids (leash optional) welcome. Visit BarkBackBenefit.com, PeggyAdams.org, Mathews-Brewing Company.com.
■ The Salty Saturday series in the Reef Room at Saltwater Brewery in Delray Beach will have a canine theme, with a dog-adoption event hosted by Tri-County Animal Rescue from 2 to 5 p.m. Along with adoptable dogs, music (Chukka Riddim, 1 to 4 p.m.) and a food truck (Out of Many, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), the dogfriendly, all-ages event will raise money for the rescue with a paint-your-pint-glass feature for $25.
