Some South Florida coronavirus testing sites will be closed on Friday and through the weekend due to severe storms expected to rattle the region.

A low-pressure system currently near the Florida Keys is expected to move northward offshore Florida’s east coast, and could bring wind gusts up to 40 mph, lightning, heavy rain and severe thunderstorms overnight Friday.

The conditions could last through Sunday morning.

Ten state-supported drive-thru sites and four walk-up sites will close. Testing center staff will need Friday to break down equipment and Sunday to set it back up so normal operations can resume Monday.

Drive-thru testing sites in South Florida that will be closed:

CB Smith Park (Broward County)

Broward War Memorial (Broward

County)

Amelia Earhart Park (Miami-Dade

County)

Hard Rock Stadium (Miami-Dade

County)

Marlins Stadium (Miami-Dade County)

Miami Beach Convention Center (Miami-Dade County)

FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches (Palm Beach County)

South County Civic Center in Delray Beach (Palm Beach County)

Walk-up testing sites that will be closed:

Mitchell Moore Park (Broward County)

Urban League (Broward County)

Holy Family Catholic Church (MiamiDade County)

Lakeside Hospital (Palm Beach County)

The COVID-19 testing hotline will also be shut down on Friday and through the weekend.

Patients who are impacted by the weekend closures should call the hotline when it reopens at 8 a.m. Monday to reschedule appointments. They will be given priority over those seeking to schedule new appointments.

Patients in need of testing can still get tests at other walk-up, drive-thru and inhome options that will remain open through the weekend.
