Appraiser Jacks tests positive for virus

Palm Beach County’s property appraiser has tested positive for the new coronavirus.

WPEC-Chan. 5 reported that Dorothy Jacks is self-quarantining at home. The television station cited a news release. Jacks could not immediacy be reached for comment.

The station is reporting that all staff members in the office were notified and those who recently interacted with Jacks are being tested.

“After experiencing minor symptoms late last week, I was tested and informed on Monday, July 13, 2020, that I have tested positive for COVID-19,” Jacks said, according to the television station.

Jacks said she has been home since taking the test on July 9.

The fifth floor office of the Property Appraiser’s Office, which is for administration, has temporarily closed along with the office’s main reception area, the television station said. All staff who work in the administrative department were notified immediately and told to go home until further notice, according to the television station.

Jacks is the second elected Palm Beach County official to go public Monday with a COVID-19 diagnosis. State Attorney Dave Aronberg announced Monday that he too has the virus. Like Jacks, he too is quarantining at home.
