Schedule is now set for the 2020 Hurricanes

-

Throw out whatever old Miami Hurricanes football schedule you had for the 2020 season. What’s below is what you need to hold on to.

After the Atlantic Coast Conference revealed last week which opponents each team will face in its “10-plus-1” format, dates for those matchups were announced Thursday.

“I think it’s very exciting,” UM coach Manny Diaz said. “It’s going to be a unique deal for everybody playing 10 straight in the league, but it makes every week a big deal.”

The rivalry home game against Florida State is set for Sept. 26. UM’s game at Clemson will be on Oct. 10.

The Hurricanes will open the season with Alabama-Birmingham at home on Thursday, Sept. 10, as their lone nonconference game.

With UM athletic director Blake James last week saying it would be one of the teams Miami had previously scheduled for the fall, it came down to UAB or Temple. The other two teams on Miami’s original schedule were recently removed from the mix.

Michigan State, as part of the Big Ten, announced it was going to play a schedule restricted to conference play. Wagner, which plays in the Northeast Conference of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), will not play in 2020 after the league canceled its fall season.

After UAB, Miami plays at Louisville in Week 2 on Sept. 19. Following the home game against FSU, UM has a bye week on Oct. 3 before playing Clemson.

The Hurricanes then have back-toback October home games vs. Pittsburgh on Oct. 17 and Virginia on Oct. 24 before their second bye on Oct. 31.

UM then hits the road for N.C. State on Friday, Nov. 6, before visiting Virginia Tech on Nov. 14.

The Hurricanes close the regular season vs. Georgia Tech on Nov. 21, at Wake Forest on Nov. 28 and vs. North Carolina at home on Dec. 5.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ACC will have all its teams, including Notre Dame in football this season, play in one division. The top two teams will face off in the ACC Championship Game.
