Accused teenage killer, rapist brought back to Palm Beach County from Orlando prison

- By Wayne K. Roustan

A 19-year-old accused killer and rapist is back in the Palm Beach County Jail, nearly two years after the crimes were committed, authorities said.

Anthony Oliver Jr. was transferred Tuesday from an Orlando area prison, where he was serving a three year sentence for unrelated robbery and weapons convictions.

He made his first court appearance in Palm Beach County, Wednesday, on charges of second-degree murder and sexual assault. He remains in jail without bond.

The murder charge was filed in May and the sexual assault charge was filed in June, but Oliver was imprisoned in the Lake Correctional Institution in Clermont at the time.

According to arrest records, Oliver and Tavares Foreman — both 17 at the time — sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl on Nov. 11, 2018, in West Palm Beach. DNA test results linked Oliver to the assault almost a year later. Foreman was arrested in March and his next court date is next month.

Williams, 17, was shot dead about 7 p.m. Nov. 20, 2018, in a dispute over a stolen gun, police said.

Williams was found face down on a dirt path near his home in the 800 block of Booker Ave. in West Palm Beach. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tips led police to Oliver who was picked up a week later for a gun theft, but during police questioning he said he was with a friend who fatally shot Williams several times with that stolen gun, according to an arrest report.

Oliver said he tried to talk his friend out of it but thought Williams was out to kill his friend so they decided to strike first, investigators said.

Oliver and the friend knew where Williams lived and waited nearby. When Williams walked past, they approached him and Oliver said his friend fired “a lot” of shots. Oliver claimed he jammed his gun on purpose by ejecting a round because he did not want to shoot Williams, police said.

The friend’s name was redacted from the arrest report. The investigation is ongoing.
