Colon’s attorney Russell Williams argues that Colon is innocent and that Colon’s statements on that recorded call are unreliable, since he was at work at the time and couldn’t hear what his accuser was asking.

A Deerfield Beach man sexually assaulted one girl and molested at least one other girl, investigators say.

The disturbing case against Glenn Edward Colon, 48, was sparked when a now-13-year-old girl came forward to detectives with allegations he touched her inappropriately, took inappropriate photos of her and showed her pornographic material, according to an arrest report.

Colon was secretly recorded by Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives in a phone call with the girl, who is not identified in court documents.

Colon’s attorney Russell Williams argues that Colon is innocent and that Colon’s statements on that recorded call are unreliable, since he was at work at the time and couldn’t hear what his accuser was asking. He says the state is trying to “pile on” charges against his client to make him look bad.

“He actually said, ‘listen, I’m at work, I can’t really talk right now,’ and you could hear in the conversation that he’s preoccupied, so whatever she was saying, he was saying, ‘yeah okay, whatever,’ that type of thing,” Williams said.

A detective said he met with the alleged victim, who accused Colon of engaging in sexual behavior with her since she had been in the fifth grade. She said Colon sexually molested her, took inappropriate photos of her, smacked her buttocks and showed her pornographic videos “10 to 15 times,” among other allegations, accord

ing to an Aug. 18 arrest report.

After the recorded phone call, deputies arrested Colon at his house and interviewed him. He said he would frequently “talk about sex and boys” with the girl, that he “jokes” with her and occasionally slaps her buttocks, but denied the allegations against him and denied sexually molesting her and showing her pornography.

He also denied taking nude photos of her, but said he takes “half-naked or partially clothed” photos of her at her request, according to the arrest report.

Three new charges filed Thursday, in addition to the initial charges filed against Colon in August after the 13-year-old girl came forward, allege that Colon also engaged in lewd or lascivious behavior and that he molested at least one other girl under the age of 16, whose identities are protected by privacy laws.

Thursday’s charges were brought by two new accusers, but it was not immediately clear which of the allegations stemmed from which accuser.

Williams also disputed these allegations, saying that they stemmed from activity that was not sexual.

“I think they were horsing around in the pool and that’s what I read from this,” Williams said. “Even in a light most favorable to the state, at best, it’s battery. There was no penetration, there was no anything … my client is unequivocally not guilty.”

Colon faces numerous charges including sexual assault of a minor under 12 years old, sexual battery of a minor under 12, lewd or lascivious behavior with a minor between 12 and 16 years old and lewd or lascivious molestation of a minor under 16 years old.

Colon was being held in the Broward County Jail on no bond Thursday.
