Key matchup: NC State’s run defense, which ranked sixth in the Atlantic Coast Conference, against Kentucky’s Chris Rodriguez. Rodriguez has 701 yards and nine TDs this season.
OUTBACK BOWL No. 7 Indiana (6-1) vs. Ole Miss (4-5) When: 12:30 p.m. ET Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida TV: ABC Key matchup: Mississippi’s high-scoring offense against a stout Indiana defense. The Rebels average 40.7 points and 562.4 yards of total offense a game. The Hoosiers have allowed an average of 19.4 points and 361.7 total yards. Mississippi will likely need a big offensive day because its defense is giving up 535.7 yards a game, worst in the nation.
FIESTA BOWL No. 12 Iowa State (8-3) vs. No. 25 Oregon (4-2) When: 4 p.m. ET Where: State Farm Stadium Glendale, Arizona TV: ESPN Key matchup: Iowa State RB Breece Hall against Oregon’s run defense. The Cyclones’ sophomore running back finished second nationally with 1,436 yards and has scored a touchdown in 11 straight games.
ORANGE BOWL No. 5 Texas A&M (8-1) vs. No. 14 North Carolina (8-3)
Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida When: 8 p.m. ET TV: ESPN Key matchup: Aggies quarterback Kellen Mond (above) vs. Tar Heels defense. He’s responsible for 92 touchdowns (71 passing, 21 rushing) in his career with the Aggies, just one away from Johnny Manziel’s school record of 93 (63 passing, 30 rushing).
