Boca Raton woman accused of threatening to shoot FBI agents

Social media post made after she was interviewed about possible involvement in January Capitol riot

BOCA RATON — After the FBI tried to interview her about her possible involvement in the Capitol siege, a Boca Raton woman posted a message for investigators on social media: “I exercise my second amendment right to shoot your [expletive] ass if you come to my house.”

That’s the message investigators say Suzanne Ellen Kaye, 59, placed across social media pages in videos where she filmed herself while swigging from a cinnamon whiskey bottle.

Agents arrested Kaye on Monday for threatening to harm the investigators, according to court records. It appears to be the first Capitol-related arrest in South Florida that doesn’t include direct evidence of someone at the riot on Jan. 6.

On Thursday night, the videos were still up on Facebook and Instagram accounts, where she’s described as “ANGRY Patriot Hippie.” Videos on a TikTok account also were still up.

Authorities say she posted the videos Jan. 31 after investigators who were following a tip called her on the phone to ask whether she had been in the nation’s capital on Jan. 6. Kaye denied traveling to D.C. but gave investigators her current address in Boca Raton. It’s unclear from court records and her social media whether she was in Washington.

She told investigators she was retired and had plenty of time to talk but would need to be inter

viewed at her home because she was not able to drive, a criminal complaint says.

Three days later, she posted the videos to her social media accounts, declaring she would shoot any agents who came to her home.

The jarring videos emerged at a tender time for the FBI, weeks after two special agents were gunned down while serving a search warrant in Sunrise on Feb. 2.

Kaye’s social media presence depicts her support of Q-Anon conspiracy theories and unfounded theories about election fraud. She also appears to align closely with the groups that stormed the Capitol.

While she denied her involvement in the Capitol riot, she told investigators she was aware of others who did travel there, the complaint says.

Kaye’s voter registration in Palm Beach County is inactive, but records show she registered as a Democrat in 2004.

Kaye was arrested twice in Palm Beach County in the past 10 years on battery charges. In both cases, the charges were dropped.

Kaye couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday.
