Where you can sign up for the coronavirus vaccine in South Florida.

- By Lisa J. Huriash and Cindy Krischer Goodman

South Florida seniors eager to get COVID-19 vaccines are beginning to have success, but it takes determination, patience and a little luck to land coveted appointments. Each week, the state receives new doses from the federal government, and as they arrive, more distribution locations are added.

Starting today, 81 CVS pharmacies in Florida will begin distributing the vaccines as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. The locations will be able to do 100 shots a day, and the retailer will begin taking appointments on Wednesday.

The number of vaccines available in Florida is growing. The South Florida Sun Sentinel is helping share that information with a searchable chart that shows how many, and what type, of vaccines are available in each county. You can find the chart at http:// bit.ly/37C5J8X.

Here is a list of places where you can sign up for a vaccine, even though your appointment may be scheduled a few weeks out. Spots open as vaccine doses become available.
