BOYNTON BEACH — Five men burst into a Boynton Beach apartment, ransacked it and threatened two women in the residence. The man of the house was dragged outside and shot. Nearly two months after the attack, the last of the five suspects has been caught, police said.

It happened about 11 p.m. Jan 16 at The Cove at Boynton Beach Apartments complex, northwest of Woolbright Road and Interstate 95.

While four men stole property from the apartment, another threatened the two women at gunpoint telling them to “shut up.” That individual then took the man who lived in the home outside and shot him in the chest and left leg.

Police arrived at the location and found the wounded man bleeding on the ground near the stairs leading to his apartment. He was taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition. His identity has not been disclosed.

While recovering at the hospital, the victim identified three of his attackers as Fred Tassy, 25; Jamesley Jean, 19; and Trevor Shemar Charles, 20.

The victim told police he had recently inherited $20,000 and some of the suspects knew it. He said that may have been the reason he was targeted.

Jean and Charles were arrested Jan. 27, along with Shedwens Alcide, 20, and Wilkensley Vertus, 18. Tassy, 25, was arrested March 3.

Each is facing a invasion robbery charge. Vertus is facing an additional charge of attempted murder in connection with the shooting, records show. All are from Boynton Beach.

All five suspects are being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail, records show.
