Winn-Dixie on Friday expanded its COVID-19 vaccine outreach in Florida, announcing the addition of its first two sites in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

The grocery chain, which is offering the Moderna shots, says its first Broward vaccine location will be the Winn-Dixie at 5600 W. Sample Road in Margate. And in Palm Beach County, its store at 6600 Hypoluxo Road in Lake Worth also will offer the vaccine.

Broward and Palm Beach counties were among 11 counties added to the roster Friday. The vaccine distribution sites within the retail giant’s chain is now 116 Winn-Dixie stores, four Fresco y Más and four Harveys Supermarket locations among 49 of Florida’s counties.

In Miami-Dade County, the retailer already had two Winn-Dixie stores in Miami and one Fresco y Más in Miami giving the vaccine.

On Friday, it announced it was adding another WinnDixie site in Miami and a Fresco y Más location in Hialeah.

In February, the grocery chain joined the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program to offer the vaccines, with the supply coming directly from the federal government.

The other Florida pharmacies that get their supply directly from the federal government are CVS, Publix and Walmart. Walgreens is also on the list, but there are no South Florida locations yet.

All eligible groups, including seniors, teachers and medically vulnerable adults with the signed form available online through the Department of Health’s website can make an appointment.

Sign-ups are at www.frescoymas.com/pharmacy/ covid-vaccine and www. winndixie.com/pharmacy/ covid-vaccine.

In addition to Broward and Palm Beach, the other counties added in Florida on Friday are: Columbia, DeSoto, Flagler, Jefferson, Lee, Osceola, Seminole, Suwannee and Walton.
