Benita Machtey Schwartz passed on March 15, 2021 after a full and happy life. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Schwartz, her children, Jonathan Schwartz and Amy Rose Sabbag, and her grandchild­ren, Natan Sabbag, Aviel Sabbag and Rachel Jill Schwartz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Ethel Machtey, and her brother, Nathan Machtey.

Benita grew up in South Miami were she attended elementary and junior high school and graduated from Miami Senior High School. She received a degree in elementary education from the University of Florida where she was a proud member of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. She taught at South Miami Elementary School for several years.

Benita was an avid reader and enjoyed movies, theater , concerts and shopping. She was known for her sense of style and was beautiful in every aspect of the word.

She made everyone that came in contact with her feel special. she was a warm and compassion­ate person, loved and admired by all who knew her. She laughed a lot and was funny. She lit up a room with her presence.. Above all, Benita was devoted to her husband and children. She loved her grandchild­ren and set an example to them as a good, kind and loving person. She treasured her close friends. Her goal was to be a loving wife, devoted mother and loyal friend. She succeeded in fulfilling that ambition. Her friends and family loved her. The family will be forever grateful to the Vi at Aventura and to her loving and caring aides, Mariah, Elicia, winsome and Raquel.
