NORTH LAUDERDALE — A man shot and carjacked in North Lauderdale begged for his life as he crawled under a parked car to try to escape the man holding the gun, video shows.

“Don’t kill me, please don’t kill me,” the man pleads with the gunman. His panicked cries echo loudly on the surveillance camera footage, released by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, which captures the aftermath of the brutal crime that took place just before 3 a.m. April 7.

The victim was already shot once by the time the camera started recording, according to the sheriff ’s office.

The video shows an armed man standing on the passenger side of a parked car in the 6500 block of Southwest 19th Street. He is pointing a gun across the front hood at a wounded man lying on the ground on the opposite side of the car.

The man on the ground attempts to pull himself under the front bumper on the driver’s side in order to avoid the gunman. After the armed suspect walks away, the wounded man crawls out of camera range.

The victim was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound, but his injuries were not life-threatening. His identity has not been disclosed by authorities.

The video also shows two cars driving away from the crime scene. One is the shooting victim’s black 2018 Mercedes Benz that was found abandoned in Fort Lauderdale about one hour later, and the other may be a silver Toyota Camry, investigators said.

Three other surveillance videos show the two cars driving through — and temporarily stopping in —

various parking lots. In one of the videos, a suspect is seen parking the Mercedes Benz then getting into the passenger side of the other car before it drives off, according to the sheriff ’s office.

As many as three suspects remain at large, detectives said.
