Browns’ Chubb out vs. undefeated Cards

-

Star running back Nick Chubb will miss the Browns’ game Sunday against the undefeated Cardinals.

Chubb, who is second in the NFL with 523 yards rushing, did not practice all week because of a calf injury and was ruled out by coach Kevin Stefanski following the team’s workout Friday.

“No one person can replace Nick Chubb,” Stefanski said. “Other guys are going to have to step up.”

Chubb, who signed a three-year contract extension in August, ran for 161 yards last week in a 47-42 road loss to the Chargers. The two-time Pro Bowl selection has scored four touchdowns as part of Cleveland’s league-leading rushing attack with Kareem Hunt.

Hunt is listed as questionable with wrist and knee injuries, but defensive end Myles Garrett is confident he will play.

“Kareem definitely has it in him to have a career day if he gets the chance,” Garrett said.

The Seahawks will place quarterback Russell Wilson on injured reserve as he recovers from surgery on his right middle finger. That will keep Wilson sidelined until at least Nov. 14. Wilson has started every game of his career — 165 games regular season and playoffs combined — until now.

NBA: Bucks general manager Jon Horst signed a multi-year contract extension after helping the Bucks win their first NBA title in a half-century.

Tennis: Taylor Fritz beat No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3) on Friday to reach the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open in front of a hometown crowd, scoring the biggest win of his young career. Fritz’s semifinal opponent Saturday is 29th-seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili, who outlasted No. 2 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. The other semi features No. 21 Cameron Norrie against No. 23 Grigor Dimitrov, who earlier knocked out top-seeded Daniil Medvedev in three sets.
