Chaminade-Madonna DL Jackson commits to Ohio State

- By Adam Lichtenstein

Chaminade-Madonna star Kenyatta Jackson Jr. is taking his talents to the Big 10.

The Lions’ 2022 defensive lineman committed to Ohio State on Tuesday, announcing his decision on CBS Sports. He chose the Buckeyes over Alabama and Oklahoma.

“The relationship with the coaches, the history behind the school, the university, and my family loves them,” Jackson said.

Jackson said he developed a close relationship with Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson.

“My family loved him,” Jackson said on the CBS Sports broadcast. “He’s a Christian man, and my family believes in Christ. That just made the bond even stronger for my family and I. His track record, what he’s produced, what he let in the NFL — for example, Chase Young, the Bosa brothers. I believe that he’ll develop me as a great pass rusher. Not only a great pass rusher, but a great man, as well.”

Jackson said he made his decision last week after discussing his choices with his father.

“I’ll say my mind was made up last Tuesday, that’s when my mind was made up,” Jackson said on the broadcast. “Me and my dad had a talk about the schools. Just shortly after we had that little talk, that little conversation, in my gut feeling something just told me Ohio State was the best decision.”

Jackson, who was sporting the Oklahoma and Ohio State logos on his helmet during the Lions’ win over Miami Gulliver Prep on Friday, has been a star for Chaminade-Madonna. He was a Super 11 selection before this season and is rated a fourstar prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings. Jackson is an Under Armour All American.

Jackson is listed as the No. 7 edge rusher and No. 76 player in the 2022 class.

So far this season, Jackson has racked up 32 tackles and eight sacks, helping lead Chaminade to a 5-1 record. He joins teammate Ryan Turner, a four-star cornerback, in the Buckeyes’ 2022 recruiting class.
