Sun Sentinel Palm Beach Edition

WEEK 9 RPI RANKINGS

-

District 7-8A

Palm Beach Central (.707)

Palm Beach Gardens (.586)

Wellington (.538)

Jupiter (.451)

Royal Palm Beach (.406)

Palm Beach Lakes (.380)

Palm Beach Central sticks at the top of this district and at the top of Region 2. This district potentially could have three playoff teams. Palm Beach Gardens is fifth in the region, and Wellington is seventh.

District 8-8A

Forest Hill (.553)

Park Vista (.536)

Santaluces (.358)

Lake Worth (.326)

John I. Leonard (.316)

Forest Hill takes pole position in the district after beating Park Vista. The Falcons remain undefeated in district play. Park Vista still has a shot to make the postseason; the Cobras are ranked eighth in the region and could improve that this week when they face Seminole Ridge.

District 13-8A

Boca Raton (.662)

Deerfield Beach (.617)

Monarch (.521)

Stoneman Douglas (.512)

Coral Springs (.397)

West Boca Raton (.349)

Not much has changed in District 13. Boca

Raton leads Deerfield Beach, and their game against each other on Oct. 29will likely decide the district champion while the loser likely gets an at-large bid. Monarch and Douglas are on the outside of the playoff picture, ranking 12th and 13th in the region, respectively.

District 14-8A

Western (.672)

Coral Glades (.572)

Cypress Bay (.562)

Flanagan (.459)

West Broward (.412)

Taravella (.311)

Western maintains its playoff position, ranking second in Region 4. Western will likely win the district, so this week’s Coral Glades-Cypress Bay has big playoff implications. Coral Glades is currently eighth in the region, and Cypress Bay is right behind the Jaguars at No. 9.

District 8-7A

Stuart Martin County (.652)

Seminole Ridge (.603)

Dwyer (.555)

Sebastian River (.428)

Fort Pierce Westwood (.361)

Seminole Ridge moved up to the second spot in this district, ahead of Dwyer. The Hawks are currently sixth in the region, while Dwyer is ninth. The Panthers have a big district matchup with Martin County this week. A win would go a long way toward boosting Dwyer’s playoff chances.

District 13-7A

Fort Lauderdale (.600)

Atlantic (.552)

Olympic Heights (.437)

Piper (.396)

Blanche Ely (.381)

This district’s story hasn’t changed much from last week. Fort Lauderdale is in the top spot and is in line for the district crown — if the Flying

L’s beat Atlantic on Oct. 29. Fort Lauderdale and Atlantic are sixth and eighth in the region, respectively.

District 14-7A

St. Thomas Aquinas (.730)

Dillard (.674)

Nova (.496)

Cooper City (.413)

South Plantation (.368)

St. Thomas Aquinas and Dillard face off to decide the district title on Friday, though the loser of that game still likely makes the playoff with an at-large spot. Nova is 11th in the region, so the Titans are not in line to make the playoffs right now.

District 15-7A

Miramar (.639)

South Broward (.591)

North Miami (.465)

McArthur (.456)

Everglades (.282)

Miramar and South Broward are both currently in line to make the playoffs, with the Patriots having the advantage over the Bulldogs. Miramar is fifth in the region, while South Broward is seventh. As long as the Patriots avoid an upset against Everglades in their final district game, they’ll claim the district crown. The Bulldogs will have to rely on their RPI.

District 8-6A

Port St. Lucie (.529)

Stuart South Fork (.366)

Okeechobee (.277)

Suncoast (.273)

Suncoast’s playoff chances took a beating last week, as the Chargers suffered a 42-0loss to South Fork. Suncoast is last in Region 2.

District 15-6A

Coconut Creek (.573) Plantation (.562) Hollywood Hills (.466) Boyd Anderson (.368) Northeast (.235)

Coconut Creek jumped back into first place in RPI in this district after beating Hollywood Hills. The Cougars will win the district as long as they don’t suffer an upset loss to Boyd Anderson or Northeast the next two weeks. If Coconut Creek wins out, Plantation will have to rely on its RPI. The Colonels, who are currently eighth in the region, should win games against Northeast and South Plantation, but they also play a good Dillard team.

District 14-5A

American Heritage (.635)

Stranahan (.557)

Boynton Beach (.525)

Jensen Beach (.420)

American Heritage stays in the top spot in the region after picking up a district win over Jensen Beach. Stranahan beat Boynton Beach and moved back ahead of the Tigers for the second spot in the district. American Heritage is second in the region. Stranahan and Boynton are both in good spots to make the postseason, ranking fourth and fifth in the region, respectively.

Region 3-4A

St. Petersburg Lakewood (.736)

Clewiston (.629)

Englewood Lemon Bay (.611)

American Heritage-Delray (.537)

Glades Central (.514)

Lakeland Tenoroc (.459)

Somerset Canyons (.388)

Davenport (.363)

Parrish (.359)

Lake Alfred Discovery (.319)

American Heritage-Delray and Glades Central both remain in position to make the postseason. Seventh-place Somerset Canyons is .126 behind Glades Central, so it would take a lot to completely knock either team out of the playoffs.

Region 4-4A

Pinecrest Gulliver Prep (.699)

Miami Immaculata-LaSalle (.698)

Cardinal Gibbons (.674)

Calvary Christian (.537)

Coral Springs Charter (.536)

Pine Crest (.514)

Miami Monsignor Pace (.497)

Miami Carol City (.457)

North Broward Prep (.416)

Two of the top three teams in this region lost last week. Gulliver Prep fell to Chaminade-Madonna, and Cardinal Gibbons lost to St. Thomas Aquinas. Neither fell in the RPI rankings this week, with Gulliver and Gibbons staying at No. 1and No. 3, respectively. Calvary Christian did

jump to No. 4in the region this week, moving past Coral Springs Charter.

Region 2-3A

Lake Placid (.427)

Melbourne Central Catholic (.401)

Avon Park (.398)

Winter Park Trinity Prep (.370)

Belle Isle Cornerstone Charter (.360)

Benjamin looks like it will roll to a playoff spot, staying in second place in the region this week. Region 4-3A

Miami Florida Christian (.682)

Cardinal Newman (.613)

King’s Academy (.561)

Miami True North (.595)

Fort Pierce John Carroll (.543)

Miami Archbishop Carroll (.540)

Miami Dade Christian (.532)

Westminster Academy (.532)
