Tamarac teacher accused of molesting 12-year-old student during tutoring session

PLANTATION — A teacher at Bethlehem Junior Academy in Tamarac said “it was the devil that made him” molest a 12-yearold former student while he tutored her at a Broward County library, police said.

Plantation police arrested Leslie Wolfe, 63, last week on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation and conduct after the girl told her mother Wolfe forced her to rub his leg and back and molested her, a probable cause affidavit says.

The girl’s mother dropped her daughter off at the county library branch in Plantation on Nov. 10 for their usual hourlong tutoring session on Nov. 10. Wolfe, who had been the girl’s sixth grade math and science teacher, had tutored her for several weeks before that day, the affidavit says.

Wolfe took the student up to private rooms in the library, she told police, and near the end of the session, he grabbed her hand and forced her to rub his leg and upper-thigh area, the affidavit says.

When she immediately pulled away, she told police he forced her hand to rub his back.

She continued to pull away, and he told her to stop. She told police she felt as if she were forced to stay in the room with him because he is an adult, her former teacher and her tutor, the court record says.

Bethlehem Junior Academy did not returned a call requesting comment.

After forcing her to touch his leg and back, Wolfe inappropriately touched the girl, she told police.

He said to girl “sorry to make you nervous,” afterward, the affidavit says, and ended the session.

While driving home, the mother told police Wolfe called and asked to speak with her daughter because they had an “emotional moment” at the session.

After Wolfe asked the student if she was OK and the mother hung up, the girl explained what happened.

Wolfe told the mother that “it was the devil that made him do it” when she called to confront him about what her daughter said happened, the affidavit says.

He told her he planned to ask his church for help the next day.

Wolfe is being held in the Broward Main Jail with a

$150,000 bond.
