‘Buyer’s remorse’ over Biden? Readers respond

- Williams Bay, WI

(Editor’s Note: We received multiple responses to the letter from reader Daniel Clancy of Fort Lauderdale, who asked if voters had “buyer’s remorse” after electing a “kindly old gentleman,” Joe Biden, as president. Some examples follow).

In response to the letter to the editor, “Buyer’s remorse,” I’d like to ask what country the author has been living in the past four years. The author forgot to list more than 500,000 dead under the watch of the previous person in the White House due to a virus he ignored, record-setting debt, no infrastructure plan, a $1 trillion tax cut for the wealthy, high unemployment, third-highest deficit in history, failed trade policies and no healthcare plan as promised — not to mention an insurrection and being a laughingstock of world leaders.

Under the watch of the “kindly, old gentleman” and those who inherited that mess, we have seen reduced unemployment to a level not predicted until late 2023, record-setting job growth, a bipartisan infrastructure plan, an efficient vaccine rollout that saved thousands of lives, the return to their parents of thousands of children taken in at the border, stimulus and child tax payments that brought tens of thousands of children out of poverty, the end of a $6.5 trillion, 20-year Afghanistan war that cost more than 2,400 American lives (albeit with a less-than-perfect withdrawal), and respect of world leaders.

It’s amazing to me how blind people are to truth. People are entitled to their own opinions, but not to their own facts.
