Silence from Rubio, Scott is shameful
It’s time for our two senators, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, my Republican member of Congress, Rep. Brian Mast, and all other GOP legislators who claim to be patriots to stand up. They must denounce the dangerous, misinformed and misguided haters threatening death to the 13 Republican House members who did their job and represented their constituents by voting for President Biden’s infrastructure bill.
All were elected to improve the lives of the residents of their districts and were elected to govern and get results. Unlike our congressmen, they did their jobs and did not collect paychecks by inaction, obstruction, and virulently demonizing the other side. On top of the crazed strangers threatening these conscientious 13 House members, the immature and irresponsible Republican leadership is piling on and threatening them with sanctions and loss of committee assignments because they worked to improve people’s lives.
The GOP would prefer the whole country lose, and that our neighbors remain in dire straits so it can score an obstructionist victory that solves nothing and helps no one. It’s literally insane. It’s time to stop the madness — and that starts with Scott, Rubio, Mast, and the rest who voted against the interests of all Floridians, and at least taking a stand for justice, decency, civility and respect, if not infrastructure. If this rabid behavior is allowed to fester and grow, innocent people will get hurt and the silence of Florida’s cowardly, congressional lambs will have abetted the violence.
