FORT LAUDERDALE — A man thought he was meeting up with a girl whom he had met the day before and made plans to see again. The rendezvous ended with the victim injured and on the ground in an alleyway, his belongings stolen, after he was robbed at gunpoint, Fort Lauderdale Police said.

Jamaris Coleman, 21, and Faith German, 20, both from Hollywood, were arrested Sunday and are each facing charges of robbery with a firearm. Coleman is also facing an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charge.

The victim told police he met German on Saturday and arranged to meet Sunday. They met and were walking north along Northwest First Avenue when the victim walked into an alleyway in the 300 block of Northwest First Street to go to the bathroom, an arrest affidavit says, while German waited near the road.

Coleman came into the alley with a gun in hand and pointed it at the victim, the affidavit says, then said, “Do you know who this is?” to the victim, referencing German. He then smacked the victim in the face with the gun.

Once he hit the victim and tore his shirt, Coleman threatened he would shoot and ordered the man to get on the ground and give him his belongings. Then Coleman and German ran off with the man’s phone and wallet, the affidavit says.

Police later found the German and Coleman hiding in a McDonald’s on West Broward Boulevard. Surveillance video from the store showed Coleman hiding the gun under a caution cone outside of the bathrooms and tossing the stolen items in a trash can, the affidavit says.

The victim got his phone and wallet back.
