I can’t say I’m shocked (shocked!) to find the news filled with so many men behaving badly, and while most of us come to our senses — comedian John Mulaney chronicles his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad 18 months in an honest and entertaining way on the tour he’s bringing to Hard Rock Live — it’s all so tiresome. Thankfully, this week includes a lot of strong women to pay attention to, from Lainey Wilson to Miranda Lambert and Lauren Bacall. Below find some of the recommended main events in the week that will be.
Leading Ladies

The free Movies in the Park series continues in downtown Delray Beach with “Casablanca,” the Bogart-Bacall classic that spawned the resurgent meme among amateur satirists who are “shocked, shocked to find” something or another going on in these extraordinary times. It’s BYO lawn chairs and blankets, and free popcorn and snow cones will be available, courtesy of the Delray Beach Police Department.

The Emmy-winning former “SNL” star is unsparing in his examination of his failures during an unfortunate period in his life, including a drug relapse and divorce. His comeback tour, titled “From Scratch,” has been a hit with college fans across the country. “It was brilliant,” a Vanderbilt reviewer gushed, quoting Mulaney: “In the darkest time of my life, I never thought I would have gotten out and I’m grateful that I can still be here and do this.”
‘The Godfather’ Trilogy

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of a culture-defining moment, the original 1972 release of Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather,” the three films in the trilogy were digitally restored and converted to 4K HD technology under the direction of Coppola himself, including a re-edit of the final film. Gables Cinema will screen each film multiple times during the weekend. Tickets for seniors, military and students cost $10.
Mezcal Lauderdale

This is the inaugural celebration of the sometimes misunderstood, tequila-adjacent spirit, organized by UniteUs Group, the team behind
FemAle Brew Fest, Greater Fort Lauderdale Beer Week and Fort Lauderdale Art & Design Week. The event will feature rare mezcal brands, workshops, food pairings, dinners, entertainment and a cigar lounge. The basic experience can be found 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 14, when ticketholders get unlimited pours and expert advice about featured mezcals, plus a souvenir glass. Tickets for that event cost $65, or $100 for 2 p.m. entry.

In November, Miranda Lambert was the first female headliner in the history of Tortuga Music Festival, putting on a performance that was sassy, spunky, trashy and a lot of fun. Since then, she became one of the rare women named Entertainer of the Year at the Association of Country Music Awards, released her eighth studio album, “Palomino,” and signed on for a late-2022 Las Vegas residency called the Velvet Rodeo.
Mike Zito & Albert Castiglia

Singer-songwriters, extraordinary blues guitarists and longtime compatriots Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia bring their Blood Brothers tour back to the Funky Biscuit after a rewarding stay at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis last week. Zito took home the Blues Rock Album of the Year award for “Resurrection,” and Castiglia, of Wilton Manors, was named Blues Rock Artist of the Year. Castiglia recently released the album “I Got Love” to a chorus of critical praise.
Haitian Compas Festival

After a two-year absence, the 24th edition of this high-energy musical celebration of South Florida’s vibrant Haitian community reclaims its place as one of the top outdoor festivals in the region. The two-day event features more than three dozen performers, with the Day 1 lineup led by T-Vice, Ekip, Klass, Oswald, Tamara Suffren, Vayb, followed on Day 2 by Harmonik, Nu Look, Kai, Enposib, Wil Pierre and many others.
