This week: Delray Beach pajama dance party, American Black Film Festival, ‘Tiger 24’ screening
This is a week that offers several unique things to do in South Florida, including the documentary “Tiger 24” in its East Coast premiere, and the documentary “Civil,” a profile of legal lion Ben Crump, which will open the American Black Film Festival. We begin, naturally, with a ‘90s pajama dance party that may or may not include songs by Def Leppard and John Cougar Mellencamp.

Delray Beach beer hall Hopportunities will throw its ‘90s-themed pajama party called Beds & Brews to raise money for Boca Raton-based nonprofit Sweet Dream Makers, which provides beds, bedding and essential furniture to children and families in Palm Beach and Broward counties. Yes, you are encouraged to wear your pajamas for a DJ-led dance party, with games, raffles and giveaways. Each $30 ticket includes two drink vouchers.
American Black Film Festival

The cultural gathering known as the American Black Film Festival this year will be a hybrid experience, with live screenings and events in Miami from June 15 to 19 and virtual programming on June 20 through 30. The 26th annual festival begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with opening ceremonies at the New World Center on Miami Beach featuring writer-actor and 2022 ABFF ambassador Issa Rae, followed by an 8 p.m. screening of “Civil,” the Netflix documentary about “America’s black attorney general,” lawyer Ben Crump.
‘Tiger 24’

As part of the film’s weeklong East Coast premiere, director Warren Pereira will share stories and answer questions about his eight-year quest to document the life of India’s feared and revered T24 tiger who ruled India’s Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. Pereira will introduce the film and participate in audience Q&A sessions at 6:45 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. A screening on Wednesday, June 22, will include a Q&A with Mark McCarthy of McCarthy’s Wildlife Sanctuary in West Palm Beach, followed on Thursday, June 23, by a session with participation by Carole Baskin of the Netflix documentary series “Tiger King.”
